About this event

Please note new date: Tuesday, October 6, moved from Wednesday, May 13. Join us for a candid in-person workshop about the importance of early sexual health education as an issue of safety and as a path to later healthy relationships. Clinical social worker (and mom) Melissa Kilbride will talk about why these conversations are necessary and will provide simple ways to have conversations with your kids without shame and discomfort. With over 17 years of clinical experience and specialized training in sex therapy and trauma, Melissa believes passionately in the importance of educating young children about their bodies and sex. Leave the workshop as an “askable parent,” ready to tackle these issues with your children. Intended for parents of toddlers through tweens – because these conversations come up earlier than you think and it's good to be prepared! About the Facilitator: Melissa Kilbride owns a group therapy practice in Washington, DC. She has over 20 years of clinical experience and has worked with children, adults, and couples in a variety of settings. She is the co-author of "Working with Worry: A workbook for parents on how to support anxious children". Melissa is also an AASECT certified Sex Therapist and as both a clinician and a mother of two, she believes passionately in the importance of early sexual health education as an issue of safety and as a path to later healthy relationships. Melissa leads candid workshops on these topics to provide support for parents as they navigate conversations with their children about their bodies, sex, sexuality, social media, porn, and consent.
