# 🌿 ARCHETYPES OF HEALING: THE WANDERER **Identity, Freedom & Finding Your Own Path** Inspired by Carol S. Pearson’s The Hero Within, the Hero’s Journey, Jungian archetypal psychology, Indigenous wisdom traditions, and shadow work, Archetypes of Healing is a Medicine Way Talking Circle series exploring the universal patterns that shape our healing, relationships, and personal growth. There comes a point on the Hero’s Journey when belonging is no longer enough. Something within us begins to ask: Who am I apart from who I was taught to be? The **Wanderer represents our desire for autonomy, authenticity, and the freedom to discover our own truth.** It may emerge during major life transitions, spiritual awakenings, changes in relationships, or periods when the life we have been living no longer feels aligned with the person we are becoming. From an Indigenous-informed perspective, finding our individual path does not mean separating ourselves from relationship. Rather, we learn to listen for our own calling while remembering our responsibilities to community, ancestors, the natural world, and future generations. Non-ordinary states of consciousness can sometimes deepen this search—loosening familiar identities and allowing us to encounter ourselves beyond old roles, expectations, and stories.
