About this event
This month's Tales & Traditions features a recital and conversation with Clarke Buehling, mentor in the Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program, and his mentee Ken Tillery. They will perform banjo solos and duets of early finger-style banjo playing, exploring the influence of nineteenth-century publications on country/folk playing and vice versa. One of the foremost exponents of the nineteenth-century banjo, Clarke Buehling has made numerous recordings of old-time, minstrel and classic finger-style banjo with The Skirtlifters, the Old 78s, and the Ozark Highballers string bands along with a solo album of gourd banjo music. Ken Tillery is a guitarist from Hot Springs. For disability accommodations, call 479.856.7250 or email questions@faylib.org 2-3 weekdays before a program.
