About this event
Friday, August 28, 2026 5 - 8 pm 5 - 6 pm Extended Gallery Hours 6 - 8 pm Dinner Join us for an evening of art, food, and community at the Heckscher Museum of Art this summer! Inspired by the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the Museum’s 100th Anniversary of Eclipse of the Sun by George Grosz, this community dinner brings people from all walks of life together around a shared table for an open and welcoming conversation about shared experiences, art, civic life, and freedom under the summer stars. Dinners will be held on Friday evenings, June 26, July 31, and August 28, 2026. Each evening will feature cuisine from a different local restaurant, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy foods and flavors that reflect the many cultures and communities of Long Island. The Museum will offer extended gallery hours, with select Just Powers: Long Island Biennial 2026 exhibiting artists in the galleries from 5 to 6 pm to speak with visitors near their artwork and share insights into their creative practices. On August 28, artists Luanda Lozano, Vanessa Powers, and Maria Spector will be in the galleries. From 6 to 8 pm, everyone is invited to gather for a community dinner outside the Museum featuring cuisine from T.O.A. Asian Fusion. Seating and meals will be available while supplies last, and the evening will be offered as a pay-what-you-wish experience. Whether you come with friends, family, or on your own, we warmly welcome you to pull up a chair, share a meal, and connect with others through art, conversation, and togetherness.
