*See Event Guidelines Below* This re-telling of the popular Korean folktale Byeol Ju Bu Jeon is full of humor and hijinks as a tortoise and hare try to outwit each other for a very coveted prize! Meet Tokki. He’s a rabbit who lives in the forest. Everyone chases after him, but Tokki knows how to protect himself so he can enjoy his life among the trees and meadows. Now, meet Jara. He’s a softshell turtle who resides under the sea near the Sea Palace. Jara adores the Sea King and would do anything to protect him. When the Sea King falls ill from a mysterious disease and needs a rabbit’s liver to be cured, Jara and Tokki find themselves locked in a battle of wits both are determined to win. This fresh take on a well loved story will leave readers delightfully surprised through the very last page. Aram Kim is an author illustrator whose other books include Sunday Funday in Koreatown, a Junior Library Guild Selection; Let’s go to Taekwondo and No Kimchi for Me, both Junior Library Guild Selections and Bank Street College Best Children’s Books of the Year; and Cat on the Bus. She was born in Ohio, raised in South Korea, and now lives in Queens, NY, happily surrounded by diverse food and culture. Event guidelines: RSVP is highly encouraged but not required.
