Stories in Motion: Music and Movement Around the World

Stories in Motion with Circle Theatre turns storytime into a joyful, global adventure! Through music, movement, and hands-on play, toddlers and caregivers will explore folktales from [insert Africa or Europe depending on which book you choose] using folk dances, songs, rhythm games, and playful storytelling featuring Anansi the Spider: A Tale from the Ashanti by Gerald McDermott. Each session invites children to dance, clap, count, and move—building language skills, pattern recognition, and fine and gross motor skills while discovering cultures from around the world. Inclusive, energetic, and imagination-filled, Stories in Motion brings stories off the page and into the body! Storytime focuses on early literacy skills through simple songs, dance, play, and short stories designed for active toddlers and their participating caregiver(s). Recommended for children 3-5 years, though children of all ages are welcome. Parents/caregivers must remain with their child(ren) for the duration of the program and are encouraged to help younger children with the activity. Childcare groups and other groups larger than 10, please call in advance. All Omaha Public Library locations are wheelchair accessible.
