About this event

Interested in building a walking habit while connecting with others? Join us for an 8-week program designed to help create a sustainable walking group right here at the Central Library using the OHSU School of Nursing Step it Up Toolkit. Together, we’ll learn how to start and maintain a successful walking group. By the end of the program, the group will have the tools to continue walking together, including a name, shared ground rules, a peer leader, walking routes, and a plan for welcoming new members. We will start walking at 10:30 a.m. Program Details We are looking for at least 3 committed walkers who can meet weekly at 10:00 a.m. for 8 weeks. We’ll meet at the Central Library each week and begin walking together on day 1. (Note: we will not have a session on September 7-Memorial Day) Each session will include: Learning and activities using the OHSU Step it Up Toolkit in a classroom setting Time to build your walking group plan A 1-hour group walk Grab a friend, meet new neighbors, and let’s get moving! About the Walks: Approximately 2 miles Flat, accessible routes on paved and dirt paths. Indoor walking options using library stairs may be available during smoky or very hot weather.
