Stand•Up/ish: Never Tell a Black Girl How to Black Girl | Black Scranton Project Cultural Center in Scranton Saturday, October 10, 2026 | 7 PM Stand•Up/ish: Never Tell a Black Girl How to Black Girl comes to Black Scranton Project Cultural Center in Scranton, PA, on Saturday, October 10, at 7 PM as part of the 2026 Scranton Fringe Festival. Amena Brown’s one-woman show combines comedy, storytelling and spoken word poetry inspired by her book of the same name. The performance blends pop culture commentary and relationship advice with a celebration of Black women. Brown draws on personal experiences ranging from church and therapy to family traditions and everyday life. Through humor, vulnerability and nostalgia, she explores themes of identity, memory, empowerment and resilience. Brown is a spoken word poet, author and performing artist whose work combines storytelling, rhyme and humor. Tickets are $15. Stand•Up/ish: Never Tell a Black Girl How to Black Girl brings Amena Brown’s storytelling, poetry and comedy to Scranton.
