Engage in the creative development of a new play as Broadway star and director of Marie and Rosetta Fergie Philippe presents a theatrical reading of his original work, Remus — A Tragedy. The play centers around the inspiring story of James Baskett, star of Disney’s Song of the South, singer of the beloved hit Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, and the first Black man honored with an Academy Award. Learn more about his trailblazing career and examine the realities of segregation that often limited opportunities and recognition, even for artists of exceptional achievement. Be among the first to experience this new piece and participate in a discussion with Philippe following the reading, offering a unique opportunity to explore and help shape the work through conversation and feedback.
