Spotlight Concert

The Lake Union Civic Orchestra (LUCO) makes its triumphant return to Town Hall as part of their historic 30th Anniversary season. Continuing with its second season of Spotlight Concerts, this production, “Ceremony, Conversation, and Song” shines the spotlight on each of the three principal families of the orchestra (sorry, percussion, though we love you dearly) and showcases their talent through works that each look to musical traditions of the past while expressing distinctive voices of the late Romantic era. The program traces a progression from public proclamation in Strauss’s Feierlicher Einzug, to courtly conversational interplay in his Suite in B-flat for 13 instruments, to intimate song modeled after the salon serenade in Tchaikovsky’s beloved homage to Mozart, while highlighting the unique colors and character of each section of the orchestra.
