About this event

Spend your Halloweekend at Chabot! Trick or Treat across the universe and enjoy some ooey-gooey spooky science! Join us for a variety of fun and family-friendly Halloween activities including a Spooky Science Lab, the Pumpkin Elevator Engineering Challenge, and more! Wear a costume, get some candy, and learn more about physics, biology, engineering, and, of course, outer space. Timed activities will include a Pumpkin Drop from Chabot’s roof at 1:30 pm, and the grand premiere of a new short film about our hunt for dark matter, followed by a live panel Q&A with scientists from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory at 2:30 pm. Timed Activities 11AM-1PM & 2-4PM | Spooky Science Lab in Lab 2 Ooey, gooey, sticky, and spooky! Come experiment in our laboratory with various science activity stations. Recommended for ages 4 and up. 11AM-1PM & 2-4PM | Pumpkin Elevators Engineering Challenge in Classroom 2 Design your own elevator to lift a mini-pumpkin in this engaging engineering challenge. Recommended for ages 6 and up. 1:30-2PM | Pumpkin Drop in the Courtyard Watch pumpkins splat on the courtyard from the roof… for science! All ages. 2:30-3PM | How to Search for the Unseen: The Hunt for Dark Matter at Berkeley Lab Watch the grand premiere of a brand-new short film about our hunt for dark matter, followed by a live panel Q&A with scientists from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
