South Philly Acoustic Jam

The Settlement School in South Philadelphia is hosting the South Philly Acoustic Jam for the school year. We meet on Thursday evenings from 6.30 pm to 9 pm in Field Hall on the first floor. We supply extensive songbooks of classic rock, blues, soul, folk music, and microphones for vocalists, and chairs and stands. There is free and available parking on the building grounds. Map location: Settlement Music School - 416 Queen Street A $30 Annual special student fee is paid to the Settlement School for all new and returning members. The payment is made in the front lobby of the building (not the meetup organizers). We are not an Open Mic Group: The Jam is not an open mic performance - everyone plays and anyone can sing. There is no judgment, all skill levels are welcome, we're here just for the fun of playing with others. Our organizing purpose is to offer a friendly, no-judgment musical culture focused on building skills. We support ourselves and other participants in ways that promote group musicianship. This unique environment fosters musical growth and development and is a great way for adult learners to appreciate and understand music. Our community purpose is to support South Philadelphia communities and the broader metropolitan area by providing occasional and focused musical outreach to senior residential buildings, community music programs, park programs, and other charitable community functions. We take no compensation for these activities. What kind of music do we play? We have an acoustic sound and welcome acoustic 6 or 12 string guitar, uke, electric bass, harmonica, percussion instruments, electric bass, keyboards, and fiddle are all welcome.
