About this event
Join the staff of the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory in a guided solar viewing! What we know about most stars in the universe comes from studying the one star we can see in detail, the Sun. Trained observatory staff will guide attendees through the process of safely looking at our closest star through specialized equipment. We will use two different types of filters that allow the viewer to see sunspots, solar prominences, filaments, surface texture, and possibly a solar flare! Meet outside on the South Side Patio at Sisters Library. About the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory: The Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory, a not-for-profit educational organization in Sunriver. The Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory offers immersive learning experiences that connect visitors and community members to the wonders of the natural world. Some of the events they offer are bird-walks, star parties, native plant sales, and annual events like the Wildflower Show and Mushroom Show. The organization remains dedicated to inspiring present and future generations to cherish and understand the natural world.
