About this event
Skandia's Third Friday night dance in September will be both live AND virtual! The dance is held at the **Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036**. You can choose to attend in person or via Zoom. Singles welcome as well as couples. First timers can attend for free! Nancy Neuerburg and Kelly Britz will teach Hyfs, a dance from Föllinge, Sweden. This fun and energetic dance is done to polka music. It starts off with a stigvals-type step in both directions, then moves to a bakmes similar to Kall, also in both directions! See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asJkspG3u4E And: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3RdBPwzYVM The evening's first half will feature The Gnomes, an always popular band. Their energy and musicality will make for a lively hour -- don't forget your water bottle! The second half will be a gathering of long-time fiddle friends and a fundraiser for Skandia. Irene Myers will be joined by outstanding Nordic fiddler Andrea Hoag and other exceptional music pals from her new CD “Vänner” (Swedish for “Friends”). You’ll hear, among other things, tunes from the CD, plus a reunion set by Norrsken (Andrea Hoag, Bill Boyd, Leslie Foley and Irene Myers) 7:30–10:30 pm., Cedar Valley Grange, 20526 52nd Ave W, Lynnwood, WA. $15; $10 for Skandia members. Info: www.skandia-folkdance.org. **You may request the Zoom link by sending an email by no later than noon on Friday to events@skandia-folkdance.org.** Requesting the link gets your name on the admission list, required to join us. For now, attending via Zoom continues to be free with donations accepted. If you are feeling at all unwell or you know that you’ve been in proximity to someone who has COVID, please stay home and take care of yourself.
