Love wine but wish you actually understood why you like what you like? Sipology is our new six-part wine series designed to make you more confident about wine without turning you into the person who says “notes of wet limestone” at dinner. We’ll cover everything from figuring out your wine personality and understanding major grapes to decoding labels, pairing wine with food, and making sense of bubbles, rosé and sweet wines. Each class includes six wines to taste, plenty of useful information, and absolutely no prerequisite other than liking wine. Classes are Thursdays at 6pm beginning September 17 and can be taken individually or as the full series. Join us in person at Sip for $40/class or $200 for all six, or virtually for $15/class or $75 for the series. For the virtual class, wine can be purchased seperately through Breathe Wine or The Wine Shop at Capitol Market. Complete all six and earn your Sipology Passport—because being a wine nerd should at least come with credentials. Beginner? Perfect. Know enough to be dangerous? Also perfect. Wine should be fun. October 1st: Same Grape, Different Wine; Why wines made from the same grape taste different. October 15th: The Grapes You Should Know; Major grape varietals October 29th: Wine Decoder; How to buy wine without knowing anything about the bottle. November12th; Wine + Food; Why pairings work and why sometimes they don’t. November 19th: Bubbles, Rose and Sweets; The fun stuff people often misunderstand.
