Shut Up and Art: American Renaissance

What even is American art? In acknowledgement of the country's 250 birthday, we will recreate, reimagine, and reinvent American art. The country was founded under the spirit of rebellion, and so to will we rebel against tradition to create a new Americana. Or, I don't know, we can just doodle or something. Artists will start gathering at 10am in the VMFA cafe (we’ll have a sign) where we'll chat and socialize while waiting for everyone to arrive. At 10:30, we will head outside to shut up and make art. Afterwards, we'll debrief before adjourning. Out of respect for museum policy, you may only use graphite in the galleries. NOTE: 1\. If you bring a large backpack\, the museum will require you to wear it on your front\. It's recommended you travel light\. 2\. VMFA allows guests to check out and use artist stools from the coat check station\. Seating can be sparse in certain galleries\. 3\. No liquids in the galleries\.
