Your Ace Makerspace Woodworking and Metalworking experience starts here! First, get up to speed on shop etiquette and learn the ins and outs of sharing tools and space at Ace Makerspace. This one-hour certification class is required for ALL Wood and Metal Shop users. Level: Beginner to Expert Timing: 1 hour Location: Ace Workshop Suite #214 Prerequisites: None Certification: Ace Shop Basics (required to use the Ace Shops) Age: 14+ Agenda How to find out what is safe use / Safety Tools Better than you found it What tools require certification Using Tool Asset numbers Consumables Managing Power Dust collection and the Cyclone Storage Reserving Space Dibs Reporting when things go wrong, or you do something good Slack at Ace and for Shop Engagement How to get help and find things – Wiki + Slack + Go to Class Air Quality Management Sign Up What to bring: A notebook or well-charged phone for taking notes. What to wear: Closed-toe shoes, short sleeves, and work clothes. Long hair must be tied back. Safety Gear: Eye protection, ear protection, and hand sanitizer will be provided. You can also bring your own. If you need a scholarship for this class, please submit this request form. You may be notified as little as 24 hours before the event.
