Shook Twins with Special Guest Darren Garvey
Twin sister duo Shook Twins bring their signature blend of indie folk pop to Boulder — think hauntingly angelic harmonies, beatboxing, telephone vocal tricks, and yes, the legendary Golden Egg. Shook Twins
Katelyn and Laurie Shook have been identical twin sisters their entire lives, and they’ve been singing together just as long 😉 After 10 years of being choir nerds they began writing songs together in college and never really stopped, making a career out of making indie folk pop music together for nearly 20 years. They moved to Portland in 2009, toured the country for many years and have since found their “forever band” of wonderful humans and musicians: Niko “Slice” Daoussis on Guitar, mandolin, and bass; Aber Miller on keys and key bass, and Alex Radakovich on drums. The band is known for their hauntingly angelic twin harmonies, deep groove, thoughtful melodies, weird vocal tricks with telephones and beatboxing and The giant percussive Golden Egg that grants wishes.
Their joy of performing together is always apparent and collaborative and contagious!
Darren Garvey is performing solo in support of his latest album As A Scribble, a collection inspired by the wonder of childhood imagination and the beautiful messiness of everyday life. Highly regarded as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and collaborator in the indie and folk world, Garvey sings with the rhythmic clarity of a percussionist and drums with the precision of a poet. His expressive and inventive style has been utilized by a myriad of artists and bands from his early years in Chicago to his deep roots in Colorado’s vibrant music community where his production credits include songwriters Daniel Rodriguez, Nathaniel Riley, Emma Rose (Sound of Honey), and a holiday single by The Lumineers. Darren Garvey is a longtime member of Elephant Revival and currently calls Milwaukee home.
