From the dawn of man our fears, legends & superstitions have found their way into our art. Paintings, literature, film & music have long told the dark stories of humanity. In the 1940s that 'dark matter' gave birth to what would evolve into a new musical genre. Shock Rock. Join David Miller (musician, broadcaster, musicologist) for a tour through the birth, history, and stories of rockers who incorporate horror, fear & dark subjects into the music they create. From Screaming Jay Hawkins to Alice Cooper. Marylin Manson to Slipknot. We will explore what draws us to rock out on the dark side. A perfect spooky season activity! About the Presenter: David Miller is a lifelong musician, radio broadcaster, podcaster and music aficionado. With 45 years’ experience as a performer and 26 years as a radio air personality, David’s musical and pop culture knowledge runs deep. He thrives on sharing the magic of music with others. Questions?
