SEWN + COLLECTED: Sweetgrass Basket Opening & Symposium

This symposium, presented in conjunction with the opening of SEWN + COLLECTED: Sweetgrass Baskets by Elizabeth Mazyck Collected by Allison Gulick Muller, brings together scholars, artists, and collectors to explore the history, craft, and cultural significance of Lowcountry sweetgrass basketry. Schedule: 2 pm | Keynote by historian Dale Rosengarten, curator of Row Upon Row, and Grassroots: African Origins of an American Art. 3 pm | Sweetgrass basket sewing demonstration by artist Elizabeth Mazyck. 3:30 pm | Panel discussion led by exhibition curator, Amelia Muller, with Elizabeth Mazyck, Dale Rosengarten, and collector Allison Gulick Muller ’71, lender to the exhibition. 4:45 – 5:30 pm | Reception FREE and open to the public.
