On Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, American Legion Post 84 will celebrate Seth E. Perry Day on the Pasquotank County Courthouse lawn. This annual county holiday honors Seth E. Perry, a Pasquotank native who died serving as a messenger over no man's land during WWI. Seth is buried on the Courthouse lawn, and his medals appear in the foyer of the Courthouse. Event details include: Participating Organizations: American Legion Post 84, multiple regional American Legion Posts, Sons of the American Revolution, VFW Post 6060 (Honor Guard), and the US Coast Guard (Color Guard). Speakers: Ret. Col. Larrie Buckout, Ret. Judge Jerry R. Tillett, Pasquotank County Commissioner Sam Davis (who will also dedicate the Post's new building), and Pasquotank County Commissioner Jonathan Meads. Features & Activities: A display of period rifles, a raffle conducted by the American Legion at the end of the ceremony, and refreshments and music provided by the Town Church of Christ. We are also working to secure the 440th Military Band to play period music. Post Tour: Following the ceremony, participants will be invited to tour our new Post home at 106 Knobbs Creek Drive. Rain Location: In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Museum of the Albemarle.
