September Gallery Reception September 27 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Member’s Studio: Artists’ Choice Gallery 1: Dan Sharkey Dan received his teaching degree and BA in Fine Art from the University of New Jersey at Jersey City and has studied at the Art Students League of New York and the New School, NY. Over many years, he has received numerous awards for his work. Dan is an exhibiting member of the New Haven Paint and Clay Club of Connecticut. He is a current member of Ocean County Artists Guild and Toms River Art Community. He is a past member of the Art Students League of Denver, Colorado and the Foothills Art Center of Golden, Colorado. He has exhibited in the New York Tri-state area as well as greater Denver. His work is included in public, corporate and private collections. STATEMENT I am most interested in looking for subtle details and moods of my subjects – some small feature, a piece of clothing, facial gestures, hand movements. I try to catch them at a particular moment in time. What was their journey? Where are they now? I am intrigued by workday projects, and I seek to have my paintings tell a story to the viewer, to examine and react to everyday activities that we may take for granted. I hope that my viewers will find meaning in what is happening in the narrative of the work. My work is a celebration of the harmonious interplay between the natural world and the boundless realm of imagination, where each piece invites the viewer into a realm of joy and wonder. Nature, in all its intricate splendor, serves as my primary muse. Every stroke of my pencil seeks to pay homage to the delicate details found in the flora and fauna that surround us.
