On your own event π¬π§ Separation Day πΊπ² Caesar Rodney's Ride! at battery park in Old New Castle, DE on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Join us for a 2.5-mile walk along the Delaware River at Battery Park in Old New Castle. June 13th is also Separation Day, the 250th Anniversary of Delawareβs Independence from Pennsylvania and the British Crown! This event is extra special since it coincides with The 250 Ride, a live reenactment of Caesar Rodneyβs historic ride from Dover to Independence Hall in Philadelphiaβa journey that helped secure our nationβs freedom. At 12:00 in Old New Castle, Caesar Rodney will arrive from his overnight journey! Rodney rode 70 miles through a thunderstorm on the night of July 1, 1776, arriving in Philadelphia on July 2, just as the voting had begun. He voted with McKean and allowed Delaware to join 11 other states in voting in favor of the resolution of independence. A few days later, he signed the Declaration of Independence! After our walk, we'll head to The Courthouse to watch Caesar Rodney arrive and the Colonial-inspired parade at noon as it makes its way down Delaware Avenue. There will be lots of food trucks available for us to have lunch. You're also welcome to stay and enjoy the Artisan & Vintage market, live music, beer garden and colonial reenactments. Separation Day is a free event. Park in the lot at 3rd & South or down West 3rd Street towards the river. We will meet at 3rd & South across from the tennis courts.
