Senior Series: Improv with Micah Stinton

Improv Classes: The instructor, Micah Stinson, is a trained actor with a speciality in improvisation. With Micah as the instructor Micah focuses on creating a connection with participants that’s both engaging and allows for vulnerability. The purpose of his classes is to encourage participants to step out of their comfort zone by introducing a theme and they must rely on their creativity to keep the theme going. Improv classes have a focus on teamwork and building off ideas to create an entertaining new world based on the actions and dialogue of all the participants. 1st Tuesday of each Month @10am-10:45am – West County Senior Center 2nd Tuesday of each month @10am-10:45am – Mid-County Senior Center 2nd Tuesday of each month @11am-11:45am – Mid-County Senior Center 3rd Tuesday of each month @10am-10:45am – North County Senior Center 3rd Tuesday of each month @11am-11:45am – North County Senior Center PERFORMER BIO: Micah first fell in love with theater in High School, unofficially becoming a “theatre kid”. He is originally from Houston, Texas, where he spent 4+ years working as a professional actor, primarily for children’s theater and Shakespeare tours. While acting, Micah found Longform Improvisation, and immediately fell in love. In Houston, he trained at Massive Improv, and went through the 5 level conservatory at Station Theater. He performed for 10 years, taught classes/coached improv teams, and was even Co-Artistic Director of Rogue improv. Since moving to Florida, he has trained with many fantastic teachers. He has also recently been getting more involved with stand up comedy. His most recent endeavor was teaching improv to children at the Arts Garage “Set the Stage Summer Camp”. Micah’s passion for Improv comes from depth, vulnerability, and commitment. It isn’t about telling jokes. It is pure creativity.
