Run time 2h 4m – 2026 – Not yet rated Semolina Pilchard is a darkly comic British crime drama about a terminally ill Liverpool gangster who summons his estranged eldest daughter back to their hometown after a five-year absence, his youngest daughter, determined to inherit everything, plots to eliminate her. Inspired in part by a lyric from The Beatles’ I Am the Walrus, the film blends sharp wit, family drama, and crime into a compelling cinematic experience. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with writer and Newtown resident, Daina Ann Smith. A Fordham University graduate, Daina earned her BA in Acting and Film(screenwriting) and an MST in Education from Fordham University. A passionate writer for most of her life, she spent her college years focusing on screenwriting and attending meet-ups with her mentor, Meir Ribalow, at The Players in Manhattan. Daina is now a 3 time WGA optioned screenwriter and writing Instructor, with 11 Features and 2 TV Series in her portfolio.
