About this event

On the second Saturday of every month, visitors gather at Pioneer Park to experience a glimpse of life in the 19th century. All buildings and museums are open, with docents on hand to welcome and assist first-time visitors. Blacksmiths can be found working at the forge, while gardening activities often take place throughout the grounds. At 9 a.m., Dr. Charles typically leads a popular “Garden Walk ’n’ Talk.” Basket weavers may be crafting pine-needle baskets, and spinning and weaving demonstrations are often underway upstairs in the Trade Center Museum. The 4-H History Seekers meet to learn new hands-on activities, and volunteers prepare an old-fashioned dish for lunch in the Cookhouse. After lunch, the Whistle Stop Pickers gather to practice dulcimers, autoharps, banjos, fiddles, and other acoustic instruments. The day is filled with learning, tradition, and good company—and everyone has a good time. The Museum is always open on Second Saturdays. Activities are different each month. Come join the fun, eat lunch, learn a new craft, pick a song, listen to the music.
