About this event

Come and join our Science Coffee Hour and this event we will discuss the history of Alchemy. The inspiration for this topic came from a talk at the Linda Hall Library about Alchemy. According to Wikipedia: "Alchemy is an ancient branch of natural philosophy, a philosophical and protoscientific tradition that was once practiced in China, India, and the Muslim world, and Europe. ... Alchemists attempted to purify, mature, and perfect certain materials. Common aims were chrysopoeia, the transmutation of "base metals" (e.g., lead) into "noble metals" (particularly gold); the creation of an elixir of immortality; and the creation of panaceas able to cure any disease." We will meet at Messenger Coffee downtown and I will post a specific location the day of the event.
