Schlock it to Me! – Oct. 17

About this event

Schlock it to Me! is back for another round. And for October, we’re leaning into Halloween just a bit with the deliciously deranged 1962 Bette Davis–Joan Crawford Hollywood thriller, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? The story involves two famous, faded sisters forced to share a neglected mansion and left alone to fester. One is desperate to hold on to the past; the other can’t escape it – what could possibly go wrong? It’s a dark descent into sibling rivalry, obsession, and just how far one sister will go to settle the score. It’s a movie you’ll never, try as you might, be able to unsee. Film critic Judy Berman of VICE said, “Few films blur the line between cult classic and canonical masterpiece as thoroughly as What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” Roger Ebert called it “one of Hollywood’s best gothic grotesqueries.” There are some very good reasons why – more than 50 years after its release – it’s still finding new audiences, and getting old fans to return for more. Schlock it to Me! happens on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 9:30pm. There will free snacks, a cash bar, the sounds of DJ Damien Gregory, shorts and surprises and guaranteed cultural enrichment! Come for the party, stay for the movie. Advance Ticket Donation is $20 entry / $25 entry + drink ticket, available at https://tinyurl.com/mrxucp3c Tickets are $25 at the door. . Schlock it to Me! is a series of must-see films from the golden age of drive-in cinema and beyond – but you won’t have to spend the evening in your car or burn a mosquito coil. It’s also a mini-fundraiser party for The Latchis Theater 4 Project, featuring an intermission prize round and a specialty schlocktail crafted by Sages, inspired by the film.
