About this event

It’s time to go looking for one of North America’s smallest owls! Each fall, Northern Saw-whet Owls begin their migration south from the boreal forests of Canada in search of warmer wintering grounds. In Central Indiana, their migration typically peaks in November, making this the perfect time to head out after dark and see if we can find one at Cope. We’ll begin the evening with a short presentation about Northern Saw-whet Owls, their migration, and the research helping scientists learn more about these secretive travelers. Then we’ll head outside to search the property for these tiny nocturnal visitors. Will we find one? There’s only one way to find out! Join us for an evening of owl watching, learning, and exploring the nighttime forest as we search for migrating Northern Saw-whet Owls.
