Saturday Polearms Class!

This class explores the use of polearms out of armor according to the Bolognese traditions, drawing primarily from the works of Achille Marozzo and Antonio Manciolino. These sources are notable for discussing the use of iconic polearms outside the context of fully armored dueling. The first three-class block will focus on fundamental skills applicable to a wide range of polearms, including movement, distance, structure, and weapon handling. The second block will build on those fundamentals with skills and techniques especially applicable to cutting polearms such as the glaive, halberd, and bill. This class is beginner friendly and is suitable for students interested in expanding beyond sword-based systems or developing a stronger foundation in historical polearm use. Recommended Gear: Comfortable athletic clothing and shoes, athletic groin protection, and any fencing gear you may already own.
