Saturday Storytime & Craft:

Community Room. At Saturday Storytime & Craft, we promote early childhood literacy through reading aloud and develop fine motor skills with simple crafts to prepare children to be able to succeed in daily tasks related to both school and life. These crafts are related to the picture book being read aloud and may include activities to help with developing scissors skills, holding a writing utensil correctly, hand and finger strengthening using tongs/scissors/bottle of glue/glue sticks, tracing images or items on paper, and strengthen hand eye coordination. This month, we will be reading Duel and painting pictures inspired by the style that the author/illustrator Shawn Harris used throughout the book - squish painting, in which wet paint is pressed between center-folded paper. Please be sure that your child is dressed in clothes that they can get messy in, as we will have limited amount of smocks for them to be able to use. This event is geared to children ages 3-7, with the help of their adult caregiver, and we appreciate you adhering to this age guideline. Registration preferred (but not required) for supply preparation purposes! Henrietta Public Library is committed to creating inclusive and accessible events.
