Samuel Gray & Benjamin Nylander present “Comedy & Reverie”
Samuel Gray & Benjamin Nylander present “Comedy & Reverie” at Puffin Cultural Forum in Teaneck, NJ on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Tickets from $10.
Upcoming Events share Samuel Gray and Benjamin Nylander’s “Comedy & Reverie” explores wit and wonder through a vibrant program of selections for violin, viola, and piano. The comic irony of Korngold’s Much Ado About Nothing, Schumann’s erratic Märchenbilder, and Lalo’s wild Arlequin conjure up images of an ensemble of stock characters, fairy tales, and fantasies. Behind these masks of performance lie the dreamy, introspective musings of Debussy, Chausson, and Reinecke, a sharp contrast to their extroverted counterparts, and a window into the source of creativity. As a whole, these works weave together a vivid tapestry of humor, performativity, and poetry. Samuel Gray is a New York-based violinist, violist, and music contractor. In his performance career, Sam has shared the stage with many great artists of our time, including Cyndi Lauper, Mariah Carey, Darren Criss, Titus Burgess, Alex Newell, Billy Eichner, and Kate Baldwin. A fervent believer that music is healing to the soul, he produces intimate chamber music performances around New York City. Sam performs on a 2014 Samuel Zygmuntowicz violin generously on loan from Jay and Michiko Jones. Benjamin T. Nylander is a composer and pianist living in Brooklyn. His work includes collaborations on various film and theatre projects, a contemporary classical album performed with saxophonist Joshua Heaney, and an international debut in Harbin, China for the 2025 World Saxophone Congress. Most notably, Nylander performs with violinist Samuel Gray, with whom he founded the Hamilton-Hudson Chamber Music Academy in 2025. Nylander can regularly be found working as repetiteur for various opera studios in New York City. He teaches a large private studio of his own piano, composition, and theory students throughout the greater metropolitan area and beyond. – Suggested Donation: $10 BUY TICKETS below, OR call: 201-836-3499 (Must call before Thurs. 4/23 at 5PM) If you cannot pay the suggested donation, please call 201-836-3499 or…
