SAAACAM July Film Club “Slavery By Another Name”
SLAVERY BY ANOTHER NAME is a 90-minute documentary that challenges one of Americans’ most cherished assumptions: the belief that slavery in this country ended with the Emancipation Proclamation. The film tells how even as chattel slavery came to an end in 1865, thousands of African Americans were pulled back into forced labor with shocking force and brutality. Director: Sam Pollard, 2012, NR, 90 mins. Immediately following the film, join us for the lively panel discussion with our panelists who will provide insight as well as resources available to the San Antonio community. ADMISSION IS FREE, BUT PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! The doors to The Little Carver open at 5:30pm, and the film begins at 6pm. To register, click here.
