Russian Avant-Garde and Contemporary Music
We invite you to a special presentation by composer Oleg Troyanovsky titled **"Russian Avant-Garde and Contemporary Music"** (presented in English). During the talk, Oleg will explore: * The Evolution of the Russian Avant-Garde: How the innovations of Scriabin, Stravinsky, and Shostakovich reshaped the global musical landscape. * Film Music as a Driver of Innovation: A look at the Soviet era’s most successful creative collaborations, such as Prokofiev & Eisenstein and Artemyev & Tarkovsky. * The Creative Process: How Oleg develops his sound projects and where he finds inspiration and ideas. * The Future of Music: Where is music headed in the 21st century, and how is the role of the composer evolving in the age of Artificial Intelligence? *** **Oleg Troyanovsky** is a New York-based composer and media artist. He was the winner of the prestigious Westworld Scoring Competition (selected from 11,000 participants by a jury led by J.J. Abrams) and is a recipient of the Prix Italiaand Prix Europa. Notable projects include: * *Tap Code Songs* (Amherst College, 2025): An interactive installation inspired by Dostoevsky’s *Notes from a Dead House*, translating "tap codes" used by prisoners into musical structures. * *Periodic Table* (2019): A musical transcription of the Mendeleev Periodic Table. * *Selenus*: A project featuring personalized piano compositions where names and birthdates are encoded into music.
