The sextet thrives on six distinct musical personalities, each contributing original works that converge into an ensemble language as adventurous as it is cohesive. Anchored by an uncommon three-saxophone front line, the group effortlessly and fearlessly navigates chamber-like lyricism, post-bop momentum, and open-ended exploration. Tonight’s performance celebrates the release of their third full-length recording, Hell Gnaw. Recorded live in the studio, this work embraces spontaneity without sacrificing precision, revealing a band whose collective instincts have been refined over nearly twenty years together. It also stands as a heartfelt tribute to long-time drummer Ryan Anthony, whose deep groove and generous musicianship remain central to the music’s spirit.
