Royel Otis

Royel Otis is an Australian indie pop-rock duo from Sydney, formed in 2019. The band consists of vocalist Otis Pavlovic and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Royel Maddell (born Leroy Francis Bressington). Their name is a combination of their first names, with "Royel" being an anagram of "Leroy". The pair were family friends who grew up around the Bondi Beach area but did not initially hang out as children. They officially began collaborating in 2019 after Pavlovic sent demos to Maddell, who was working at a bar at the time. Maddell has described the partnership as the "collaboration he'd been chasing his whole life".They released their first EP, Campus, in 2021, followed by Bar n Grill in 2022, which featured their breakout single "Oysters in My Pocket". In 2024, the duo achieved global recognition for their viral Triple J "Like a Version" cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder on the Dancefloor". They followed this with a popular cover of The Cranberries' "Linger," which entered the Billboard Hot 100.
