About this event

Capture the beauty of boreal forest wildflowers using rosemaling techniques. The Upper Midwest and Scandinavia share evergreen forests with striking wildflowers which have inspired folk art motifs for generations. In this one-day workshop, rosemaling artist Tara Austin will lead students through a localized adaptation of rosemaling techniques to depict three northern Minnesota wildflowers: the wild rose, lady slipper, and marsh marigold. This workshop offers a chance to focus on modern forms using traditional brushstroke technique and materials, and students will depart with several unique pieces of artwork suitable for framing or gifting. Additional information: Advanced registration required. Tools and Materials: A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class to cover the patterns and provided paper. Students may either provide their own materials for this workshop or purchase required materials from the instructor in class for an additional $30. See the materials list here. You will indicate your plan for materials at checkout. Prerequisites: Skill level: Suitable for students with past rosemaling experience. Ages: Suitable for ages 16+. A discounted ticket price is available for students ages 16-17 at checkout.
