About this event

Step back in time and discover the origins of Halloween traditions in this hands-on workshop inspired by early practices of the 18th century. Before pumpkins became the symbol of the season, people carved turnip jack o’lanterns to ward off spirits and light the way through autumn nights. In this unique program, participants will learn about the history of Halloween while carving their own turnip lantern using traditional techniques. Part of our Freedom in Focus: Florida’s Legacy of Liberty for America 250 exhibit, this workshop connects guests to the cultural traditions and everyday life of the Revolutionary era through a fun and seasonal experience. ** Minimum of 5 participants required. Event subject to rescheduling or cancellation if minimum is not met. ** For More Information call (727) 736-1176 or email us at admin@dunedinmuseum.org Get Tickets
