About this event
Kirkman Room. Plant the Future We Want: Gardening for Abundance, Resilience and Community Gardening is about more than aesthetics, or even ecological conservation. Research increasingly shows that the choices we make in our landscapes influence biodiversity, soil health, water quality, climate resilience, and even the health and resilience of our communities. Home gardens make up a significant portion of our developed environment, giving individual landowners an important role in restoring ecological function. In this talk Resilient Roots educator Greta Nelson, will explore how ecological design can transform not only our landscapes, but also the social and economic systems they support in the face of multiple global crises. Greta will ground these ideas in concrete, science-informed steps individuals can take to create healthier, more resilient landscapes, while offering a hopeful vision of how collective action at the local level can contribute to meaningful environmental and community change.
