About this event
Shared Conference Room (12 people). Our Round Rock Public Library team and volunteers are excited to offer a new service: A Repair Clinic! Instead of throwing away your household appliance or clothes that have broken, bring them by one of our Sunday clinic sessions to work with volunteers and bring it back to usefulness! We'll have our first session in a few weeks, on August 30th, and then have another clinic in the last Sunday of October, the 25th. Afterwards, we'll assess how things went, and then plan to start a regular pattern of these clinics starting in January 2027. This program requires pre-registration, listed below, and is intended for small items. Here's a short list of examples of likely accepted items: 1) Small household electronics: Lamps, toasters, can openers, clocks, stereos 2) Clothing: Zipper replacements, buttons, limited stitching, tears. Hat repair is also available, (millinery) 3) Bicycles: Work will almost certainly need to be done outside in the library courtyard 4) Some limited computer and like device repair can be attempted, but no programming assistance will be available 5) Book repair and binding If we receive multiple requests to repair similar items, we might email you to assign a later arrival time, so that you aren't waiting too long. Also, here is a list of items that we will not consider for repair: 1) Firearms or other types of weapons 2) Anything containing or coated in liquid of any kind 3) Anything that presents a hygiene concern, (microphones being one example) 4) No clothing alterations or builds from scratch 5) No alterations or reprogramming of operating systems, ('breaking' phones, or modifying ROM on a PC) The volunteers will do their best to help repair your device, but we cannot guarantee desired results.
