About this event
@ Course: Neandertals are familiar to most of us—but Denisovans? Who were they and what do they have to do with us? A contemporary of Neandertals, these early hominins lived in the later Pleistocene, but, unlike Neandertals, their primary habitat was East Asia. Relatively new DNA and fossil evidence have revealed information about their connections with other archaic hominins and early modern humans. Instructor: Fred H. Smith is a human paleontologist who has worked and published extensively on later human evolution for more than 50 years. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a past president of the American Association of Biological Anthropologists.
