Remembering the Ladies: From Patriots in Petticoats to Presidential Candidates

Garfield - Community Room. Abigail Adams is visiting the library! Adams famously wrote to her husband, President John Adams, asking that the Continental Congress “remember the ladies” when drafting new laws for our new nation... something the new Congress definitely did not do! Looking forward in time, she tells the stories of courageous & tenacious women of all colors & creeds who fought to enhance women’s political participation. Topics include the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention, the 19th Amendment passed in 1920 granting women the right to vote, & pioneering female activists who’ve worked to extend women’s economic, social, & political rights into the 21st century.
