About this event
Whether you’re a fiction or non-fiction writer, evoking scenes in sensual detail is critical for holding readers’ attention. But knowing what to include and omit is difficult, especially when you’re deeply caught up in the story yourself. Using samples from fiction and non-fiction literature, this workshop will coach students on how to “think like a movie camera” when writing scenes that aim to immerse readers in the story without overwhelming them. We’ll learn how to choose the best entry point into a scene, how to keep the right elements in focus throughout, and how to gracefully transition out.
