Readers' Circle : Orbital : A Novel

About this event

For our December discussion we will cover the novel Orbital: A Novel by Samantha Harvey. Set over 24 hours aboard the International Space Station, it follows six astronauts and cosmonauts as they experience 16 sunrises and sunsets, observing a fragile Earth while reflecting on human connection, beauty, and grief. Orbital won the 2024 Booker Prize and the Hawthornden Prize, and it was shortlisted for the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction and the Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for imaginative fiction. Copies of the book can be borrowed from the Library or borrowed through Minerva if Merrill’s copy is unavailable. For this gathering we will be meeting the first Thursday of December. Readers’ Circle is a drop in book discussion group for Merrill Library cardholders that meets at Merrill Memorial Library the last Thursday of the month.
