Read to a Dog Johnsville

About this event

This program is intended for youth in grades K-4. Read out loud to a quiet and friendly trained therapy dog and their adult volunteer during this fun program that's proven to boost children's reading skills. The patient attention these dogs offer helps beginning, struggling, or reluctant readers gain confidence and improve their reading skills. Readers can bring their own books from home or select from options offered by library staff. Sign up for a 15-minute session with a licensed, trained therapy dog. Registration is required. We highly encourage sessions to be one-on-one to minimize potential distractions, though an adult may stay with their reader if desired. Please check in at least two minutes before your start time to ensure each reader gets their full 15-minute session in a timely manner.
