About this event

Hosted by Moy Berquist with the support of the Randall Davey Audubon Center Step into the stillness of the forest and reconnect with your senses on a guided forest bathing walk. Spend the morning walking slowly and sitting under the canopy of ponderosa pines as you are guided through prompts that encourage mindfulness and presence. Inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, forest bathing invites deep connection with nature. It supports stress reduction, lowered blood pressure, strengthened immunity, and improved mood. Participants also report feeling awe, timelessness, or a sense of being held by something greater. Come join me and experience the healing and inspiring energy of one of Santa Fe's most beautiful natural sanctuaries! **What to expect**: We will be walking slowly up Bear Canyon Trail with long periods of sitting. Small sit pads will be provided. The route includes a brief climb up and down rustic stone steps, as well as a walk over a small rock outcropping. There's approximately 200' in elevation change up and back. This walk doesn’t require you to be a super-athlete, but **good fitness, balance, and an ability to navigate dirt trails and short, steep inclines at a higher elevation are a must**. We’ll begin at **8:30 a.m. sharp**, so please plan to arrive a few minutes early to get settled. We should wrap things up by 11:00 am or shortly thereafter. Bring **whatever will help you feel comfortable** to walk, sit, and even lie down (optional) in the forest. If you usually use **walking poles**, feel free to bring them. I will also have small sit pads available for you to use. Please wear **sturdy sneakers or, preferably, light hiking boots**. While the trails are well-worn, footing can be uneven. Don’t forget to bring **water**. Also, there are both **shaded and sunny** sections on this walk, so you may want to bring a **hat and sunglasses**, especially if you're sensitive to the sun. Please no pets or kids under the age of 18. **Thanks…
