Her legend became associated with the origin of the name California. 🎨 The incredible sculpture garden was created by internationally renowned artist Niki de Saint Phalle, who moved to La Jolla in 1993 and began creating Queen Califia’s Magical Circle in 2000, inspired by California’s myths, history, Native American influences and natural beauty. Sadly, Niki died in La Jolla in 2002 at age 71, before the project was completed. Her granddaughter and longtime artistic assistants continued the work according to her plans. The magical circle opened to the public in 2003 and became her only American sculpture garden and her final major project. **🌈 Get ready for colorful, whimsical, larger-than-life creations:** 👑 A giant Queen Califia riding a magnificent eagle 🐍 A spectacular winding snake wall 🌀 A maze-like entrance covered in colorful mosaic 🦅 Giant mythical creatures and totemic sculptures ✨ Brilliant glass, mirrors, tile and stone covering the sculptures We’ll explore the garden together, enjoy the artwork and take photos. ⏰ **IMPORTANT**: The garden officially closes at 2:00 PM.
