About this event
Move, breathe, and feel your best with Qigong! This gentle practice combines slow breathing, flowing movements, gentle stretching, and mindful meditation to promote relaxation, energy, balance, and overall well-being. In this workshop, you’ll explore therapeutic qigong, sometimes described as Chinese yoga, and discover how it can support healthy aging. Regular practice may help ease muscle stiffness, back, neck and shoulder discomfort, and arthritic complaints while supporting posture, mobility, circulation, immune function, and energy. Qigong also offers a calming way to reduce stress and cultivate greater happiness and well-being. Qigong can be practiced standing or seated, making it accessible for people at different fitness levels and abilities. It can also be a beneficial form of movement for those returning to activity after surgery or medical treatment. No experience is necessary—anyone can practice Qigong! Admission: $18 About the Instructor Nancy S. Fried-Tanzer, MEd, is a health educator specializing in healthy aging. She is an instructor of Chronic Disease Self-Management Programs developed by Stanford University, including Matter of Balance (fall prevention strategies). She incorporates many of these strengthening and joint-lubricating exercises into the warmups of her classes. This program is eligible for the Arts & Culture Passport.
