About this event
6:30PM – The Waiting Room By ArLynn Parker Directed by: Tia Collier & Tré (TJ) Porchia Parental expectations are examined in this two act play. Lily’s reluctant transition to parenthood has left her struggling beyond what she imagined, despite her mother’s warnings. Dan and Britt argue over priorities when it comes to their son, but Britt’s sister, Nomi, is a natural who wants nothing more than a child of her own. Five years later, Lily, Dan, and Britt’s parenting styles collide in the waiting room of a pediatric hospital wing. Crystal, a receptionist, is roped into the frustrations of others which make the day all more stress-inducing. Before the day is out – whether with relief from a phone call or the doctor’s orders – the well-being of Lily’s child, Sammy, will force them all to reckon with their decisions. About the Playwright: ArLynn Parker is a playwright, director, and performer. She holds an MFA from Hollins University.
