About this event

Community Room. Please join us for a Pow Wow dance demonstration by Ohiya celebrating Native American Heritage Month! You will learn about the songs, dances, art, food, and traditions of the Indigenous Peoples of America. Ohiya is a cultural collaboration of Native American Singers, Dancers and Artists from the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Guided by our mission: honoring our ancestors and their teachings through cultural expressions of the past, present and future, our group strives to educate people of the songs, dances, art, food, and ways of life of the Indigenous Peoples of America. The group was founded to promote and celebrate the beauty and tradition of Native American social dance and singing styles commonly viewed at Pow Wows. This program is for all ages, and no registration is required! For accessibility accommodations (ex. ASL), please fill out the online form at sccld.org/accessibility 7+ days prior to the event. If you need assistance with the form, speak with a staff member at your local library, call (408) 540-3945, or email us at ask@lib.sccgov.org.
